As a young naturopath and osteopath in the early 1970's, I was pretty impressed with the results of these therapies compared with the medicine of the day. They had firm philosophical backgrounds and I felt that they provided a truly holistic approach to patients health. Thanks to my optimistic nature, and strong will, even my greenhorn skills seemed to work well, and patients got better. Looking back, it was because we reached the point where the patient made their own significant choice to choose to be healed, as much as anything I 'did'.
Then I studied acupuncture, and found a deeper understanding of both the person and their disease.
This art was so vast and so detailed that it taught me some much needed humility, and brought with it a sense of a deeper purpose behind all of our life challenges, health and otherwise. Now I could see that we are almost pre-programmed with different potentials of emotions and physical vulnerabilities. It was very exciting to be able to intervene at an energetic level and watch a person change for the better, not just in terms of losing pain, but also discovering how to find and express the best parts of themselves mentally emotionally and spiritually.
As life went on it presented me with a steady drip feed of information and experience on a spiritual level, to back up what I had learned academically. My father's passionate interest in Theosophy and all things spiritual rubbed off on me, and gradually permeated my clinical approach. I began to wonder, when someone presented with a repeating life issue, whether it might be due to unresolved karma from a past life- or was it just a strong CF (Causative Factor) influence from an acupuncture point of view.
A training in Applied Kinesiology in the 1980's was incredibly transformative- it vastly improved my own level of health, and allowed me to integrate my therapies in a much more informed way. AK is an ongoing passion, it can be applied in so many ways, it is only limited by the imagination. It is a way of jumping ahead of the scientific model of laboriously proving that what is really is; the answer to any correctly phrased question is literally to hand, especially when used on the levels described by John Diamond and David Hawkins.
When we leave ourselves open to change, life presents us with the most amazing things! In my case, many of my 'Ah- Ha' moments have come about from the serendipitous arrival of just the right book at just the right time. The channelings of Lazarus, the 'Conversations With God' series by Neale Donald Walsch, the 'Convoluted Universe' series by Dolores Cannon the various works of Dr John Diamond etc. etc. All of these, and many more, have influenced my clinical approach to patients.
Suddenly I found myself on a course with someone I had never heard of- a good friend absolutely insisted I go. What an adventure! Cameron Dawson was a large than life Australian who had developed The Dawson Program, a system of healing based on kinesiological diagnosis and vibrational treatments using tuning forks, gongs, gems, scents- anything that worked- plus the Power of Intention- to achieve quite miraculous results. I ended up taking a sabbatical in Australia and Bali to work with him. I still use many of his eccentric treatments, even Aaron's Breastplate from the Old Testament, and my patients don't mind- after all, who is going to complain about getting better? Further training with Dr Elaine Woodall in the art of Intuitive Healing followed, improving the ability to do distant healing.
Hypnosis just had to happen somewhere along my path, and it did. Of course, a lot of the above required deep meditation to access the right level of sensitivity, and this might well be described as self hypnosis. Then hypnotic skills for others through training in NLP, and then with Diana Cooper, author of 'Light Up Your Life' and many other books. Past life regression always intrigued me, and I watched Diana do it many times, but somehow it never worked for me, I still don't know where I came from! So when I discovered Dolores Cannon (Ozark Mountain Press), I just had to attend her training. Again, I learned how to do it, but the experience of having it done has so far eluded me.
Recently, some of my patients have expressed an interest in finding the deeper causative levels behind their health and relationship challenges, and it has been exciting and rewarding to take them to past lives in order to learn lessons and to communicate with their Subconscious.
Life is an incredible experience, and hypnotic trance is a fascinating tool for exploring beyond the boundaries of normal perception and understanding of it. It has given me a whole new dimension in which to live and work. Boundaries- what boundaries?? Transcendence is the name of the game!
